Ash Island Lofts adds value in Fulham SW6
Review from our client Mrs Payne - In 2011 I bought a 2 bedroom Victorian terraced house in Fulham with the intention of providing a capital investment, rental income and eventually a base for my teenage children when they finished university. The property had obvious potential to create a third bedroom and bathroom in the loft and in November 2014 I contacted Matt from Ash Island Lofts to discuss the project. Ash Island’s immediate appeal lay in the transparency of their pricing which was all important as I had a fixed amount to spend! In addition to the loft I discussed with Matt my plan to re-locate the stairs to the side wall as the existing layout divided the reception room in half as it would have been in the original two up two down layout. This would give a much improved open plan ground floor layout and would mean that the stairs leading to the loft would rise above the ground floor stairs maintaining the size of the existing two double bedrooms. I also needed to replace the very tired bathroom and the French doors leading to the patio. Having renovated five houses previously I felt confident in the initial conversations with Matt that he immediately understood what I wanted to achieve and also that I needed to get the work turned around with minimum delay as I would be putting the house back on the rental market when the work was complete. We agreed a start date early February 2015, the scaffolding went up and the workmen arrived. I was able to see photos of progress on a daily basis which was important to me as I live 90 miles away from London. In March the loft staircase went in and I was able to see for the first time the space I would be getting. I arranged with Matt to visit when the electrician was on site to discuss lighting and sockets and then again with the plumber to check positions of radiators and bathroom fittings. When I made a few tweaks to the original plans everything was done with good humour and the minimum of fuss. When the boiler decided not to start at the end of the job Matt just got on and got it fixed and even put in a new room thermostat. The work finished on time as Matt had promised which was quite a feat as every room in the house had been altered due to moving the ground floor stairs. The decorating began after Easter and the house really began to take shape. I contacted my letting agent in May to let them know how work was progressing and they were very keen to take a look. Within two days they had found a tenant with an offer at 40% more than I was earning prior to the loft conversion. The house has been transformed; it was hard work but really well worth it and I’m so pleased I chose Ash Island Lofts to do the work.
